People have different views on whether students should attend mixed schools. While sending boys and girls to single-sex schools helps them concentrate more on their studies, I believe co-education leads to better social skills in the future.
On the one hand, sending students to single-sex schools allows them to focus entirely on their courses as there are fewer distractions such as romantic relationships or rivalry among girls for a popular boy's attention. For example, in my country, girls who studied in single-sex schools performed better because they were able to stay focused on their subjects.
On the other hand, mixed schools provide students with the opportunity to develop their social skills regardless of gender. Studying with the opposite gender helps students learn how to interact in different situations. As a result, they are better prepared to cooperate with male and female colleagues in the future. For instance, people who are educated in mixed schools have a stronger ability to interact with their coworkers of the opposite gender in the workplace.
In conclusion, although learners may be more productive in single-sex schools, I argue mixed educational institutions are more beneficial for developing social skills in people's future.
