It is certainly true that nowadays students exhibit challenging behaviors in schools throughout the world. While there are various reasons contributing to this, some stakeholders, such as the government, parents, and school managers, are capable of addressing this issue effectively. In evaluating students' problems, we need to consider some social-psychological perspectives. In the modern age, due to changes in people’s minds and behaviors influenced by different sources, such as social media or globalization, youngsters have different attitudes compared to the previous generation within society. Generation Z, who are recognized as individuals with new ideas and values, may be unexpected or intolerable for their parents and school managers. This is simply a phenomenon known as the ‘generation gap’. For instance, my students at school tend to disobey school regulations or break social values such as respect for adults or teachers; these kinds of behavior are rooted in the fact that previous norms and structures need to be transformed and redefined based on current changes. Since they are the first generation brought up under the influence of media and technology, officials at schools and parents at home need to be more sympathetic and work closely with their students or children. They experience a wide range of psychological issues, some of which are still not fully understood and require further academic research. For example, there is ongoing research about the long-term impact of cellphones and online games on teenagers’ minds and behaviors, which may lead to violence or other unacceptable manners at schools. Hence, if we look at the problem deeply, we are highly likely to be able to solve it. Among various agents, governments and tutors engaged in the field of educational policies can make a significant contribution to address this issue. For instance, by designing and implementing cultural and educational programs at schools or via the media, they can promote effective traditional values like respect for others and enforce necessary rules. On the other hand, by involving related experts, they can make large-scale structural decisions to change some old regulations at schools which are too tough and extremely strict, and need to be updated for the new generation in order to reduce their misbehaviors.
